Winter 2009
Onondaga County voted for change on November 4th, 2008 and selected Senator Barack Obama as our next president. Join us on January 20th, 2008 as we celebrate his Inauguration at the Palace Theatre in Syracuse. Check our calender for complete details on this free, public event.
Dan Maffei was also choosen to represent us and will become our next Congressman for the 25th Congressional District. Dan's work ethic, ability to listen and reasoned approach to government made him the first Democrat to hold this seat in nearly 2o years.
Voters also selected Democrats to represent them in the State Legislature. Returning electeds include the Hon. David J. Valesky - 49th NYS Senate District; the Hon. Joan Christensen - 119th NYS Assembly District; the Hon. Bill Magnarelli - 120th NYS Assembly District; and the Hon. Al Stirpe - 121st NYS Assembly District. Our newest electeds include the Hon. David Murad who will represent us in NYS State Supreme Court, Renee Smith Rotundo as Town of Pompey Town Councilor, and Lorene McCoy Dadey as the Town of Dewitt's newest Town Councilor.
This has been very exciting year for our party. Our County had a historic opportunity to voice their support for our candidates and voted for real change.
